About Meena

My artist name is Meena - I'm honoured as it’s my great grandmothers name, with permission from my father I use her name as my artist name so she will never be forgotten.

My name is Peta Renee Ugle. I'm a Bibbluman yok born on Whadjuk country (Perth WA) and now living and working in Mandjoogoorap (Mandurah) within Gnaala Karla Boodja with my husband and 6 children.

I'm a direct descendant of the Bibbullmun tribe, also known as Noongar Nation. My father was born on the Ongerup reserve and my mother was born in Mogumber mission. I was brought up in Maddington WA, Kununurra WA, Katherine NT and Mandurah WA where we settled over 20 years ago.

Mandurah will always be my home, I remember visiting Mandurah as a child and playing on the foreshore, this place is now where I raise my children.

Inspired by my parents, both Aboriginal artists, watching them paint all my life I've been able to develop my own unique artistic style after years of being taught to paint and use numerous mediums from a very young age. From washing the brushes and using my hands for my parents to trace over to now developing and designing logos, sports apparel and commission artwork I've come along way and love every part of my artistic journey.

Living in so many places with very different landscapes and lifestyles I've learnt to incorporate different techniques to enrich my style of artwork that reflects my heritage, family, travels and land.

I've developed logos and designs for Ochre Sporting Association Inc., Waangkininy Health in Peel - Aboriginal Health Service, Mooditj Nungan Koolongah’s, Cancer Council WA RAP, Nidjalla Wanngan Mia and East Metropolitan Health Services. I've won the people choice award for Binjareb Art Comp and sold numerous personal collection pieces to people throughout WA.

I enjoy working with different mediums such as Resin, acrylics on canvas, murals and electronic designs for clothing. Art is my passion and how I tell my stories.  I have a passion for art, painting sooths my soul! If you are looking for personalized, meaningful artwork with an Aboriginal Meena’s flare you're in the right place. Contact me and let’s get started.

Above are some awards, competitions and logo designs I've won.
