Artist Bio ~ Baker

Baker (Corey Ugle) was born in Pinjarra, Western Australia, and is a proud Aboriginal man and direct descendant of the Bibbulmun people, whose Country spans the South West of Western Australia. 

Baker has developed his own unique artistic style, inspired by a number of prominent Aboriginal artists, particularly his father-in-law, Peter "Coco" Woods. Through his father-in-law guidance, encouragement, and passion for art, Baker discovered his own love for painting and continues to honor his influence through every piece he creates. 

Having travelled throughout Western Australia and the Northern Territory, Baker has incorporated various techniques and influences into his work, creating pieces that are contemporary and unique. His artwork reflects his heritage, family, journeys, memories, and connection to Country. 

Baker's artwork has been displayed at Nidjalla Waangan Mia in Mandurah,  Mandurah Train station Carpark, the entry of the City of Mandurah Administration Building, the Mandurah Visitor Information Centre and in many private collections throughout Australia. 

For Baker, Aboriginal art is more than a creative outlet—it is a passion and a way of sharing stories, honoring those who have inspired him, and expressing his connection to family and Country.
