SanDs
The name SanDs was inspired by Lorraine’s grandparents Samuel and Dorothy Morrison. The photograph shows Lorraine’s Grandparents, Uncles and Aunty. It was taken down Kojanup crossing way (where their camp was). ‘S’ is for Samuel, ‘an’ is the loving union of her grandparents, the ‘D’ is for Dorothy and the ‘s’ for their strength and sincerity. Lorraine chose to use her Grandparent’s image and names because “it’s our old people we look to for direction and wisdom in times of sorrow”
Empowering First Nations People with educational workshops
Because everyone's journey ends the same...
How many times have you heard about family and friends trying to raise money to bury their loved ones? Witnessing people face this financial burden is painful...so many sad times where people are not prepared and can’t financially cope with a funeral. After the death of a loved one, shock subsides and reality is mixed with sadness, despair and anger as the problem of finances arises. Especially when the person who has passed away is far from their mob’s country. It’s these issues that led to the creation of SanDs funerals consultancy - we need to share important information regarding the financial cost and planning of a funeral. This is an important service that needs to be shared with as many Aboriginal people as possible.

Are you a Government service provider?
Inviting SanDs to deliver information sessions to the Aboriginal community - as well as the wider community – empowers individuals to take control when there is a death of a loved one. With culturally competent advice, attendees are given the knowledge to lessen the financial and emotional burdens of funerals.
Do you employ Aboriginal people?
If you are committed to closing the gap by providing a hand-up, not a hand out, then we encourage you to arrange a workshop for your Indigenous workers. You can inspire a generation and empower a self-sufficient attitude. Even more, a happy, well-informed workforce is a productive workforce. By supporting the workshops, you support Aboriginal culture and the reconciliation process. Every workshop helps to close the gap.
Does your mob want to learn more?
Funerals are expensive. Yet, the financial burden can be reduced by learning about the process of pre-paying for funerals, especially our own. Your final wishes are carried out with dignity, respect and love - without leaving your family to pay for everything. If you’re thinking about planning for your own funeral - or the funeral of a loved one - the workshops can help you.
